| Hotel Amenities: With only 41 double rooms and 5 single rooms, most with sea -view and balcony, the hotel atmosphere is more intimate with furnishings in a traditional Madeiran style. The majority of our regular guests come specially for the diving facilities which are easily reached via the beach lift near the hotel. Our diving base has now twice been designated as the best on the Atlantic in the journal "Diving". |

| The lift takes you down to the fish restaurant in the bay overlooking the sea. Open daily from 12.00am till 11.00pm, the selection of freshly prepared fish dishes, seafood and local specialities is sure to whet your appetite. You have the choice of a table outside on the large terrace or inside the restaurant. Enjoy an evening meal whilst watching the sun go down over the sea. | |

| Snorkelling and Diving at the Aquatic Nature Reserve. |

| The whole bay has been under the protection of the aquatic nature reserve regulations for the last twenty years. As a result the fish stocks have increased to a level found in tropical waters. The water is deep enough directly by the shore for you to snorkel and dive in our bathing centre. Our diving base/school - Manta Diving Centre - is open to everyone. | |

| Location: Hotel Galomar lies directly on the coast overlooking our own private bay. Although it is only 12 minutes drive from the airport and 15 minutes from the capital Funchal, the hotel is favourably situated amongst greenery and the area is generally peaceful. There is a small supermarket right next to the hotel. |

| Madeira is noted for having 23 different micro-climatic conditions ranging from tropical, sub-tropical and mediterranean to those found in the high Alpine mountain regions. As is to be expected on a green island it rains occasionally, however less on the south side than on the north side, which is why our hotels are situated along the south coast. Sometimes we go without rain for several months but when it does come the showers are usually short and temperatures still remain a pleasant 19 to 26 degrees centigrade in the coastal regions throughout the year. The temperature drops about 1 degree centigrade for every 100 meters increase in altitude (our hotels are mostly at sea-level). | |
| During the winter it can be 24 degrees at sea-level but the mountains could be covered in snow. However such conditions usually only last a few days and don't occur every year. (The locals make a point of driving up into the snowy mountains to celebrate on these rare occasions). The island of Madeira has always enjoyed a pleasant climate which they say is envied in California. Our tour guide Christa claims that even in the worst weather conditions there is always a corner somewhere in Madeira where it's not raining! |
